Bsc Agriculture Course Duration & Structure

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] Agriculture is an undergraduate course that focuses mainly on agricultural science. The course duration of B.Sc Agriculture is 4 years. This degree deals with disciplines like- Agricultural Microbiology, Soil Science, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Food Microbiology etc. The eligibility criteria for B.Sc Agriculture course is 10+2 from a recognized board having Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics as mandatory subjects. Course Duration:-

The duration of Bsc Agriculture course is said to be for 4 years. Containing 8 semesters. Each year consists of 2 semesters.

Eligibility:-

The eligibility criteria for pursuing Bsc Agriculture are :-

The basic criteria to pursue B.Sc Agriculture is that the student should have completed his/her 10+2 examinations and must have scored minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology by a recognized board.

In order to apply for the entrance test, the applicant must be at least 22 years old on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

Entrance Exams :-

The following exams are conducted for entrance into various universities in the stream of Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] Agriculture :

1. ICAR Entrance Exam [ICAR-AIEEA]- It is an agriculture entrance exam conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for admission to 15% seats in Agriculture Universities in Bachelor Degree programs and 100% seats in ICAR Deemed to be Universities and NDRI, Karnal.

2. EAMCET- Conducted for admissions in Agriculture colleges and universities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

3. PAU Entrance Exam- Conducted by Punjab Agricultural University

4. KEAM- Conducted for Agricultural colleges in Kerala.

5. IGKV CET- Conducted by Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya.

Course Fee In India :-

The average course fee for B.Sc Agriculture course ranges from INR 52,000 to 1 lakh per annum. But the fee varies from various institutions.

Semester wise Syllabus of B.Sc Agriculture :-

Semester 1: Basic Science & Humanities, Comprehension and Communication Skills in English, Rural Sociology and the Constitution of India, Educational Psychology, Introduction to Computer Applications, Plant Biochemistry.

Semester 2 : Principles of Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Finance and Co-operation, Production Economics and Farm Management, Agricultural Marketing & Trade and Prices, Fundamentals of Agribusiness Management.

Semester 3: Principles of Soil and Water Engineering, Farm Power and Machinery, Protected Cultivation Structures and Agro-Processing, Energy Sources and their Application in Agriculture.

Semester 4: General Entomology, Economic Entomology, Crop Pests and their Management, Sericulture.

Semester 5: Dimensions of Agricultural Extension, Extension Methodologies for Transfer of Agricultural Technology, Entrepreneurship Development and Communication Skills.

Semester 6: Agricultural Microbiology, Soil Microbiology.

Semester 7: Fundamentals of Statistics.

Semester 8: Introductory Agriculture, Principles of Agronomy and Agricultural Meteorology; Field Crops-I (Kharif); Practical Crop Production I; Practical Crop Production II; Weed Management; Irrigation Water Management; Field Crops II (Rabi ); Rain-fed Agriculture and Watershed Management; Farming Systems, Organic Farming, and Sustainable Agriculture; Experimental Techniques in Agricultural Research 1.
